Growing the Cure for Malnutrition In Her Own Backyard

"Now we don't have to buy vegetables anymore, because we grow them in our garden."  -Eliminatha Ngendahimana, GHI Graduate

A balanced diet of fruits and vegetables is essential for early childhood development, but like thousands of families across Rwanda who only eat the food they grow, Eliminatha did not have access to nutritious food for her young daughter. When Eliminatha learned that her daughter was malnourished, she was heart-broken but determined to do something about it. With the knowledge and skills she gained from GHI's Child Nutrition Program, she turned things around. Now her home garden is full of nutritious vegetables, she knows how to prepare balanced meals, and is even sharing seeds with her neighbors. Watch the video to see the impact on Eliminatha's family.
