GHI’s program comprises four integrated components:

(1) Cooperative formation & land advocacy

(2) Inputs for community & home gardens

(3) Agriculture & nutrition training

(4) Income generation through agribusiness

Gardens for Health provides cooperatives with inputs including tools, seeds, and organic manure.

In the Gasabo District, Gardens for Health currently supports 12 hectares, cultivated by 9 cooperatives, growing a variety of high nutrient crops. Cooperatives divide the produce among their members and sell the surplus at markets in Kigali. GHI has established nearly 200 home gardens, designed to directly improve household nutritional security.
