GHI’s program comprises four integrated components:

(1) Cooperative formation & land advocacy

(2) Inputs for community & home gardens

(3) Agriculture & nutrition training

(4) Income generation through agribusiness

Gardens for Health employs two agronomists who visit community gardens and home gardens every day, providing targeted technical assistance in sustainable agriculture practices. The agronomists also coordinate monitoring and evaluation of community harvests and home garden implementation.

Each cooperative elects three members to be peer nutrition counselors who attend regular nutrition workshops and visit vulnerable households each month. These counselors focus on helping familes improve household nutrition and track their progress over time.
